Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I use any song in my film? I’d like to use a top 10 song by this artist…
So we do license all of the music we use in our films, which also unfortunately means that we can’t just use any song you’d like in our films when it’s our responsibility for the films we create. We use several sites, like MusicBed, SongFreedom, etc to ensure we have proper rights for the songs we use. We do that because in the end, we know you’d want to have the films for a long time and have the most flexibility in how you can share it as you look into the future.
Q: Can I send you an outline for how I’d like my film to go? Like 10 sec. for getting ready, 15 sec. for ceremony, 20 sec. for first dance, etc, etc, etc.
From our years of experience in specializing in wedding films, working from a outline is not practical and you can expect it won’t have the same feeling as our other work. As Walter Murch once said editing is “a kind of dance” and the finished film is filled with the ebbs and flows of creativity. So while we’d like to operate it like a hard list of timecode, it is a living story and framework that we work with.
Q: What is an Event Film?
An Event Film is a edited video that includes all of the formal moments in your wedding and is edited in a live event or live broadcast style. This means this film will not be edited in the same style of our feature films, short films or same day edits - which use a cinematic, montage or music driven style of editing. Instead we include each formal moment from your wedding events and edit them together, from start to finish, with synchronized audio from a DJ or production company when available. We then put all of those formal moments together into a single film.
What is a formal moment? A formal moment is typically when an audience is asked to witness a specific event, for example:
Ceremony - From the moment the ceremony begins, typically when the groom or grand parents enter the room, to the moment where the ceremony is completed and/or the crowd is dismissed.
Reception - Can include moments such as, the entrances, cutting the cake, toasts from the bridal party, speeches, prayers, the bride and grooms first dance, father daughter / mother son dance, and performances.
What isn’t included with an Event Film - The bride or groom getting ready, baraat, open dancing, cocktail hour, formal portrait photos, creative sessions, private rituals, sangeet, vidi, grah shanti
If you are interested in adding to your event film moments that are not included from the list above, you must order each moment separately for an additional fee and all orders must be placed 60 days prior to your wedding date.
Q: Do you offer Raw Photos?
Unfortunately we do not offer raw photos. As you know from even taking photos on your phone, it’s a mixture of both great composition, lighting and framing decisions that we choose, and then we finish with our post production. So a photo is only halfway there before post production, and that is where our work really shines as we craft the image into a lasting memory.
Q: Why are your prices higher than this other company?
It’s true there will always be other companies out there with a similar price list, but in the end it’s our work that brought you here, and anyone can create a bunch of line items, but not every company can have the same level of experience, craftsmanship and dedication to creating something special.
Q: Can you photoshop _______?
We aim to capture the best of your day as it happened, which means we are very selective in what we allow on our photoshop requests, because our goal is to deliver the moment as it was and not a strange mashup of images or a green screened fantasy of your day. Our philosophy towards photoshop is to keep the best version of your memory because that lasts longer than the latest trend.
Q: I want to get groups at tables during the reception.
At this point and time, Le Cape recommends a third photographer to take pictures of the reception. This is to ensure that your lead and second photographer are able to focus on the reception program and open dance.
